In October Revenue announced the introduction of the Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme (TBESS) to assist companies in Ireland who are suffering from large increases in their operating energy costs. Whether gas or electricity, so long as your company is tax compliant, you can claim for this relief.
Your energy costs must have increased by over 50% compared to the same period last year. For example, if your energy bills for December this year are more than 50% higher than last December, you can submit a claim through Revenue. How much? If you qualify, you will receive relief of up to 40% of the increase, up to a maximum of €10,000 monthly per trade. Eligible months to claim for are from 1st September 2022 through 28th February 2023.
If you have more than one business, you may apply for each business separately provided each has its own unique MPRN/GPRN and a separate address.
Revenue have set up a calculator to determine the rebate which you can access here: https://revenue.ie/en/starting-a-business/tbess/calculator.aspx
You need to register for the TBESS on the Revenue Online Service (ROS) and submit your business details and your MPRN/GPRN (found on your electricity and gas bills) and can apply for the relief as of today, December 5th 2022.
